Requires regular watering and well-draining, slightly alkaline soil. Pruning of old growth only.
Propagate from hardwood cuttings made in winter.

With its striking red autumn leaves, in full sun, the Atropurpurea makes a sight no one can forget. Its leaves are colourful throughout in shades of brown and bronze. It bears creamy yellow flowers in summer and afterwards produces red berries.
