Cercis siliquastrum Judas tree

Planting position: Full sun. Wind-protected area. Area with a good summer rainfall. Area with no humidity.
Requires regular and thorough watering. Protection from severest frost. Complete fertiliser in spring. Prune after flowering.
Propagate from seed.

Before the Judas tree’s 9cm kidney-like leaves appear, the tree covers itself with purplish-pink, pea-shaped flowers, borne in clusters. Following the flowers is flat green seed-pods that, when ripe, turn red.
