This perennial water plant is widely planted, and has upright stems, each
with round, leaf crowns, resembling umbrellas.
C. albostriatus (60cm) has purple-tinged sheathes.
C. papyrus (2 - 2,5m) is also known as the Egyptian paper reed or Papyrus, and is very decorative. Its large, umbels of thread-like foliage top the long, slender stems. Protect from wind.
C. prolifer (45cm) is a dwarf water plant, very similar to C. papyrus, but will die down in severe frost.
