Encyclia citrina

Mexico
Planting and growing requirements: little watering, little light and little heat.
Ideal temperature: 8 - 9°C
Grown best from a raft or cork bark, this semi-deciduous specie usually produces single pendants of scented yellow flowers. These have a deeper golden centre in their lips and occasionally margined white.
E. cochleata wants to grow in 10°C and is a robust, easy-to-grow specie. The flowers have slim green petals and sepals, drooping downwards, beneath the circular, deep purple lip.
E. mariae needs to be grown in 9°C and has summer flowers of lime green with a wide lip of white. In contrast to the plant, these blooms are large and last well.
E. pentotis will do well in 10°C and is summer flowering. These blooms are carried with the red-lined, cream lip above the creamy sepals and petals.
E. vitellina also wants 10°C and produces large, star-shaped autumn flowers of brilliant orange with a thin lip.
