Planting position: Full sun. Ideal for areas with high summer rainfall.
Requires regular and thorough summer watering, kept dry during winter. Compost-enriched soil, that drains well. Small application of bone-meal to planting holes, prior to planting. Watch out for slugs and snails.
Propagate from winter division.

This interesting bulbous plant has pineapple-looking flowers, hence the name. During summer thick flower stems appear from strap-like leaves, and are densely covered with light greenish flowers. The raceme ends with a tuft of fine foliage.
