Indigenous; 30 - 45cm
Planting position: Full sun.
Suitable for most growing regions, provided additional watering where needed.
Areas with moderate frost only.
Requires regular watering.
Well-draining sandy soil, with added organic matter beneath root level.
Generous layers of mulching with compost or leaf mould.
Spring application of complete fertiliser.
Hard late-winter pruning.
Propagate from spring tip cuttings.
This perennial is evergreen and bushy with aromatic foliage. It produces
daisy-like flowers throughout the year, which are blue with yellow centres.
In cooler areas these flowers only appear during spring.
F. amelloides ‘Read’s White’ (35cm) is a relatively new form, known as the Kingfisher daisy. Its flowers are crisp white with yellow centres, forming a striking contrast against its dark foliage.
F. amoena ‘Variegata’ (30cm) is the Variegated kingfisher daisy, with cream and green foliage and blue daisies.
