Planting position: Full sun or semi-shade.
Spacing of 25cm between plants and 65m between rows.
Requires regular, thorough watering, never allowing soil to dry out completely.
Well-draining, slightly acidic, compost-enriched loamy soil and generous layers of mulching. Prepare beds thoroughly, two weeks prior to planting and incorporate 250g of 2:3:2 p.m ².
Propagate from runners.
Fertilising programme: an application of 60g of 3:1:5 p.m ² (before fruit bearing). Light applications of 3:1:5 (during fruiting period), every two weeks. Take care to avoid foliage while fertilising and water immediately afterwards.
Harvesting is done when the fruit is brightly coloured.
Pests, diseases and their cures:Leaf blight, Alternaria leaf spot and leaf scorch- spray . Burn plants with a strawberry virus immediately.
The easy-to-grow strawberry is most popular and is wonderfully sweet, rich in vitamin C and has a magical fragrance. Strawberries are eaten in numerous forms and especially raw with cream.
