Hemerocallis lilio-asphodelus Lemon day lily

Tropical Asia, Europe; 45 - 55cm
Planting position: Full sun or semi-shade. Suitable for most growing regions provided adequate watering.
Requires regular watering, especially during dry weather. Fertile soil. Applications of complete fertiliser, early spring and mid-summer. Watch out for snails, aphids and slugs.
Propagate from late winter division.

The Lemon day lily bears lemon-coloured lily-like flowers during summer that lasts for one day only, hence the name. These blooms are produced in profusion though and always present. Its foliage is grass-like and may die back from frost.
