The water iris has spring flowers of white, yellow, coppery-yellow, blue and red.
The evergreen foliage is sword-shaped.
I. kaempferi has many varieties. This perennial water plant has large flowers in shades of blue to purple during spring. Its sword-shaped leaves have prominent mid-ribs.
I. pseudacorus (1m), known as the Yellow flag for its golden spring flowers, appearing many per stem.
