Planting position: Full sun. Ideally for areas with high summer rainfall and cool winters. Not suited for hot and humid, or hot and dry areas.
Requires regular watering, especially during summer. Compost-enriched, well-draining soil. Late winter application of complete fertiliser.

Stake plants and cut back stems after flowering. Watch out for slugs, snails and aphids.
Propagate from summer-sown seed or winter division.

This herbaceous perennial has pea-shaped flowers, grouped densely together on tall spikes. The colour range include shades of purple, pink, red, salmon, blue and yellow, and plain white.
