This tree attracts humans and bird-life with its sweet fruit. The fruit appear after the little star-shaped, whitish flowers which come with spring and summer. When ripe, the fruit is red. The leaves are a pale green, obovate and firm.
Mimusops obovata (Red-milkwood, 18m) is larger than the M. Caffra with also bigger fruit, otherwise it is similar.
