Planting position: Semi-shade. Suitable for regions with high rainfall, or provide additional watering where needed.
Requires regular watering, keeping the soil moist. Compost-enriched soil, generously mulched with leaf mould. Watch out for snails and caterpillars.
Propagate from seed, cuttings or division.

This attractive, summer flowering, perennial herb has its hairy, aromatic leaves positioned oppositely on the stalks. Tubular, honeysuckle-like flower clusters are available in colours ranging from purple and violet, pink to red and mauve to white. The blooms attract sunbirds and the foliage is used in the kitchen.
