Odontoglossum bictoniense

Guatemala
Planting and growing requirements: medium shade and less watering after flowering.
Ideal temperature: 10°C

O. bictoniense is easy-to-grow, even as a houseplant. The tall flower spikes can carry many longlasting flowers that open in succession of each other to reveal a pink or white lip and brown spots covering the yellowish petals and sepals.
O. cervantesii is a miniature that charms with its winter and spring flowers of circular white flowers, ringed towards the centre with light brown.
O. crispum originates from high areas in the Andes and needs good shade, coolness, humidity and moisture. It is almost completely whitish in colour, excepting the lip which has yellow and tan markings towards the centre and throat and the characteristic single tan spot on the lower half.
O. Gold Cup 'Lemon Drop' is completely yellow, except for its lip which has some tan spots.
O. grande is autumn flowering and if anything, striking. The large blooms are yellow, banded broadly with brown.
O. pulchellum has the most graceful, fragrant spring blooms of white with a waxy texture and is commonly know as 'lily of the valley orchid'.
O. rossii has winter star-shaped flowers of white, blushing faintly with pink and brownish markings.
O. stellatum is an easy grower and produce winter flowers with brown overlaying yellow and the lip pink or white.
