South Africa Osteospermum ecklonis Van Stadens River daisy

Indigenous; 50cm x 1,5m
Planting position: Full sun. Suitable for all growing regions without severe frost.
Requires watering when dry. Well-draining soil. Shape pruning.
Propagate from cuttings or summer-sown seed.

The spring flowers of this spreading, evergreen perennial is daisy-like and white with a blue reverse and centre. This shrub-like plant flowers in profusion and its foliage is small, narrow and dull green.
O. ‘Bloem erf beauty’ (20 x 80cm) has similar foliage and flowers to O. ecklonis, with flower-colours of deep, rich mauve.
O. fruticosum (50cm x 1,5m) has its large, daisy-like spring flowers in white, centred lilac and reversed mauve.
O. jucundum (40cm x 1m) produces a profusion of spring flowers in shades from plum to mauve.
