Planting position: Full sun.
Suitable for all growing regions, provided additional watering where needed.
Tolerates coastal wind and drought.
Requires regular watering.
Well-draining, fertile soil, enriched with compost and lime.
Applications of liquid fertiliser, two weekly, during spring.
Encourage flowering by removing dead flower heads.
Watch out for slugs and caterpillars.
Propagate from autumn (for spring flowering)- or spring-sown seed (for summer flowering).

This well-known annual proves invaluable in winter or summer borders, for it is easy- to-grow and very attractive when in flower. These long flowering, trumpet-shaped blooms are in their different varieties available as single or double forms, frilled or plain edged and have a colour range of purple, pink, white, blue, red and yellow.
