Potentilla nepalensis Cinquefoil

Himalayas; 55 - 60cm
Planting position: Full sun. Suitable for most growing regions, provided adequate watering. Not suited to hot and humid regions.
Requires regular watering, keeping the soil constantly moist. Well-draining, compost-enriched soil. Late winter application of complete fertiliser. Watch out for snails, aphids and slugs.
Propagate from winter division.

The Cinquefoil is hardy, spreads fast and easy to grow. Panicles of striking red flowers are produced during summer and its leaves are bluish-greyish-green.
‘Miss Willmott’ (60cm) has deep green foliage and dark centred, red flowers during spring.
‘Willmottiae’ (20cm) bears a profusion of dark pinkish-red spring flowers.
