Planting position: Full sun.
Suitable for all growing regions, provided additional watering where needed.
Tolerates wind and drought fairly well, once established.
Requires regular watering, especially during dry spells.
Well-draining soil, enriched with compost.
Spring application of complete fertiliser.
Cutting back spent flowers.
Watch out for snails, aphids and slugs.
Propagate from spring-sown (in situ) seed.

Most noticeable are the coloured bracts on erect stems. These bracts can range in colour from purple, red, blue and white. The flowers are insignificant.
