These epiphytics are easy-to-grow and have an unusual way of carrying their summer flowers. The flower stalk grows downwards where the flower will be borne beneath the plant. These scented blooms are soft yellow to off-white, stained with reddish-purple.
S. wardii have light yellow to orange flowers, marked with purplish-brown and the lip's sides are blotched with the same colour.
