Mexico; 25 - 50cm
Planting position: Full sun. Wind-protected spot. Ideal for summer rainfall regions.
Requires regular summer watering, keeping bulbs dry in winter. Well-draining soil and added bone-meal to bottom of planting hole. Applications of bone-meal. Watch out for snails and caterpillars.
Propagate from winter division, but only after a few years.

This species produces large red summer flowers , spotted yellow and purple. The flowers are almost triangular-shaped, and its leaves strap-like.
