Requires regular watering during dry periods. Well-draining soil, enriched with compost. Small spring applications of bone-meal.
Propagate from summer cuttings.

A stunning, but rare, tree with a flaking, reddish-grey bark. Its foliage are scale-like and the male and female cones are produced throughout.
