South Africa Zantedeschia aethiopica Arum lily

Indigenous; 60 - 90cm
Planting position: Full sun or semi-shade. Ideally planted in the very shallow zones of marsh gardens.
Propagate from division or seed.

The Arum lily is very beautiful with its long, fleshy stems rising above. the stalkless, arrow-shaped leaves, and carrying white spathes with creamy insides. These spathes appear in spring.
Z. oculata (55cm), known as the Black-eyed arum and has greenish-cream spathes with a large, dark “eye” on the inside. Its leaves are speckled.
